A VETERAN’S FIELD EXPERIENCE.
Our Editor-in-Chief, Elder Miracle Chigozie Ozim is a veteran journalist who over the years acquired expertise in the field of information, education, and entertainment journalism. He is a past master in Technical Journalism and holds great sway in effective writing of smooth flowing prose in elegant English.
His foray into the profession of journalism was not an accident as he delved into prolific writing three sixty degrees after his school days in the seventies. The Media Houses at the time awaited and swallowed hook, line, and sinker his arresting, dramatic, suspenseful, pulsating intellectually captivating write-ups on the burning issues of the day.
He took journalism to a higher level after a great period of thorough tutelage under the sound professional grooming of Late Alhaji Lateef Jakande at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Lagos. The demand for his professional skill led to his being shortlisted among suitably qualified candidates who attended the interview for an appointment.
The then young journalist cut his journalism teeth at the end of the Civil War at the Daily Times of Nigeria where their then Editor, Mr. Areoye Oyebola readily offered him an appointment as a senior journalist under Mr. Segun Osoba, then the News Editor. There he met and worked with some of his contemporaries like Columnist Alanko including Ben Lawrence, Ray Ekpu, Steve Omojifor, Onyema Ugochukwu, Gbolobo Ogunsawo, Felix Odiari, Tunde Elegbede, as well as Prince Tony Momoh who took over as Editor from Mr. Areoye Oyebola.
The creation of Imo state in 1976 threw up serious reportorial challenges and our Editor-in-Chief, who had earlier been posted to Owerri deployed his masterful professional skills in reporting government activities and human angle stories through rugged investigative journalism. He manifested in full expression his professional dexterity and efficiency.
Then, Late Mr. Martin Iroabuchi came on board as the next Editor of Daily Times and rewarded Elder Ozim’s journalism skills and drafted to the Lagos head office to beef up the operations but not long after then, the then Governor of Anambra state, Chief Jim Nwaobodo sent his recruitment team to bring in Elder Ozim to help start the Satelite Newspapers from the scratch as its first production Editor and he later rose to be the Editor Sunday Satelite Newspapers.
In his dynamism, he mobilised a five crop of veteran journalists to found the New Nationalist Newspapers in the 90s as their Editor-in-Chief. In 2010, he helped an international organisation to found an international magazine named “Renaissance World Magazine” as the founding Editor.
A devout Christian, neck deep in the service of God and Humanity; Elder Ozim is a highly disciplined believer in the best practices. His philanthropic drive to help the helpless which started in the Biafran Red Cross during the Civil War blossomed into his establishing the Sky Foundation for Youth, Women, and Child Development in 2012 to ameliorate human suffering and provide jobs for the youth in his corporate outfits “Global Informants” and “ Fantastic”.
The 73-year-old veteran journalist and philanthropist has retired to Consultancy Services where he is crafting some books in the work to pin down his wealth of experience for the younger generation. However, with his unstoppable drive for impactful journalism and academic excellence, Elder Ozim formed a formidable team in 2022 to establish “ Trending Gists and Communication Network”, an online publishing firm as the Editor-in-Chief.
